Jubilee Meadow

Thornham Jubilee Meadow, is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming a 17-acre canvas into a carpet of annual and perennial wildflowers  among a selection of newly-planted trees. Our team of six  Trustees, all volunteers, work hard to bring this vision to life. We believe that nature can heal and inspire, and we want to share this with the community.

Our Mission

Thornham United Charities dates back to the 18th Century. It is managed by a team of six local volunteers who make up the Trustees. We are busily working  to transform our 17-acre field into a  wildflower meadow, planted with native trees, which people who live in the village, and our visitors, can enjoy for years to come.

2025 will be our second year working on this project, and, thanks to the tremendous support of the local community, we are already showing results.

Last year saw a flurry of activity with lots of milestones being set. Our progress continues to be monitored by a local expert on wildflower meadows as we try to ensure we meet our environmental responsibilities and increase biodiversity. We have gained enormous encouragement from the outstanding support and enthusiasm we have received from the local community and visitors alike. Many thanks to you all!

THORNHAM JUBILEE MEADOW: EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF NATURE

What We Do

We aim to provide an area of environmentally-friendly open space which the residents and visitors to Thornham can enjoy forever, and which will be financially self-sustainable in the long term.

As the meadow becomes more established, we hope to be able to provide a variety of educational opportunities to increase the knowledge of the birds, plants and animals making their homes on the meadow.

Come and walk round our meadow and see how many species of flowers, birds and butterflies you can find. So far, we have identified more than 65 species of birds and have planted 60 species of wildflower, so there will be plenty to look for!
