Early Spring on Jubilee Meadow

April 2026 Newsletter

Cowslips by the score!

Little did we reaise just how quickly the cowslips would increase. We did have a few last year, but we are amazed to see so many, so soon. There must be over 1,000 out there, now, in mid-April.

Open Gardens

We are delighted that Jubilee Meadow will form part of this year’s Open Gardens, taking place on June 6th from 10.00-4.00pm. Most of our Trustees will be involved in Open Gardens in one way or another, but the ever-stalwart Colin Venes, hopefully aided by a few volunteers, will be up on the Meadow to explain where, and what, we are up to, as well as our plans for the future. Do pop along and have a look.

The Meadow should be looking its best in early June.

A New Meadow Path

We have a brand new Meadow Path which meanders from the entrance from the Playing Field , through the centre of the meadow and rejoins the main perimeter path near the south west boundary. We think this will be a pretty spectacular walk once the flowers start coming through in a few weeks’ time. Thanks to Adrian Siddle for cutting the path for us.

The Big Picture

This is the view from the Chris Berridge Memorial Bench on the western boundary. We have tried to preserve an uninterupted view from the Village Hall patio, right across the playing field,  through the meadow, as far as the orchard.

Signs of early Spring on Jubilee Meadow. The ground is now bone dry after a really wet winter.

The Kestrels are Back!

Great news! The kestrels are back. Which box will they choose? There seems to be a bit of a debate going on at the moment. My bet is on the owl box, but who knows?
